How to keep your grass from dying with this warm weather and no rain.

Some grass is in the beginning stages of showing signs of hot spots.   It is recommended, and where to water as late at night as possible  (recommended 10 pm – 6 am) and not watering after sunrise so that the water will go into the soil and not evaporate or transpire before the plants, flowers and turf can soak up as much water as possible.  With this heat, it does feel like we are battling everyday to keep everything alive. Without water turf can go into stress quickly.

If you’re an avid gardener, now is the time to consider these suggestions:
• Now is a great time to consider topdressing (or sand) warm season turf to level the lawns
• Don’t put rocks in the bottom of houseplant pots. They actually decrease drainage and aeration for the plant roots.
• Plants need an inch of water per week. What’s an inch of water? If rainfall or irrigation fills an empty Tuna Can, that’s just what plants need.
• Get in the habit of wearing a hat and sunscreen whenever you work in the sun. Skin cancer cases are on the rise.

A few reminders
  • If you see something suspicious call the Police.
    • Non-Emergency phone # (770) 422-2505
  • Please SLOW down when driving through the neighborhood and STOP at the stop signs.
  • Reminder - there is NO Fishing or Swimming in the lake.
  • Please ensure that children are not playing near the lake and removing the rip rap rock from the lake bed and the inlet that carries storm water to the lake.  These large stones keep the soil in tact and are costly to have replaced.
  • Mowing -
    • If you have a fenced yard, please remember that mowing is on Wednesdays* (weather permitting). Please leave your gate open in the morning so that your yard will be mowed.  *If they cannot mow on Wednesday they will try to mow on Thursday or Friday if possible.
    • Please pick up dog waste from your lawn as well, or your yard may not get mowed.

  • Please be a responsible dog owner and pick up after your dog, no matter how big or small they are.
It is a City of Kennesaw Ordinance that you MUST pick up after your dog.
Dog feces carries a lot of parasites that can be harmful to humans and other animals. Please pick up immediately after your dog.
If you have a fenced yard, please pick up the waste daily and dispose of it properly. Because we are attached and our yards are so close to each other your neighbors do not want to smell dog waste when they are in their backyard.
Please respect your neighbors yards and pick up immediately if your dog wanders over to their yard and does their business so they can enjoy their yard.
